Dave S. Gordon
Dave
and his wife, Siri, currently live in Sebastopol California. He studied
at the San Francisco Art Institute in 1976 and received a BA in
Anthropology from the University of California in Los Angeles in 1980.
He began painting murals in the most romantic of circumstances. As a
young man traveling abroad, when he ran low on funds he would paint in
return for food or lodging. Along with his murals in California,
he has also painted in Nepal and Tunisia. His most recent murals
have been in Philadelphia.
Dave Gordon came to Manteca in 2002 as one of three artists that we had
invited to meet with us to discuss the design and creation of our first
mural. We had seen some his work on his website and in different
areas of Northern California. After talking with him, the decision
was unanimous; he was to be our first muralist.
Dave has been truly wonderful to work with. He did extensive
research to develop the design for the first mural. He spent
countless hours helping with our promotions and our Muralfest
Fundraiser. He did workshops at the high schools on mural art.
He spent many hours talking with the members of the board about mural
art, artists and the future of our mural program.
Dave has been a great help to the Manteca Mural Society every step of
the way. We appreciate his expertise and dedication. He was
definitely the right choice for the Manteca Mural Society!
