Don Gray

The Manteca Mural Society had the good fortune to meet Don Grey at the Lindsay, California Mural Symposium.  Don has been painting professionally for nearly thirty years.  He has exhibited in galleries and museums throughout the United States, and his works are found in many collections, public and private.  Gray has also taught, painted indoor and outdoor murals in several states, and illustrated over twenty books.

The artist's earliest inspirations came from the landscape of his birthplace in rural northeast Oregon.  The realist painting that resulted helped train his eye and hand in traditional techniques, thought his personal work has moved in less literal directions over the years.

He currently resides in Murrieta, California with his wife Brenda, who was kind enough to help the Manteca community paint our second "Mural In A Weekend", our "Cow-Munity Mural".

Don's mural in Manteca was a special one co-sponsored by the Rotary Clubs of Manteca to commemorate Rotary’s 100 year anniversary.  We were very impressed with the feelings and images that he was able to bring together for this piece.  It was done in conjunction with the creation of a plaza that provides a great place to contemplate the mural and community service in general.
